About the Event

Join a Community of Practice of other child care providers who are interested in focusing on engagement with kinship families. A kin family is a family that has taken in a child that is not biologically their own for a number of various reasons. Grandparents raising their grandchildren is a great example of a common kinship family.

Sessions will include resource sharing, guest speakers and peer support on topics including:

  • Kinship families 101
  • Resources to support kinship families
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Cultural humility
  • Policies & boundaries with families
  • Provider self-care
  • Group chosen topics

Participants must attend or make up all sessions to receive 10hrs of ECP credit as well as a $100 stipend. The group will meet for one hour per month on the second Thursday of the Month from June 2022 to March 2023 from 7pm-8pm (please see full schedule below).
