Substitute Child Care Teacher

Responsibilities:

• Adheres to all state licensing rules and regulations

• Adheres to all program policies and procedures

• Provide quality active supervision, focused attention, and caring service for the children in care

• Uses best judgement to act in the best interests of the children at all times

• Respond to each individual child’s needs promptly

• Maintain a safe, healthy, and orderly environment which promotes active learning

• Maintains daily classroom routines, including keeping appropriate records, setting up meals, etc.

• Work with the children hands-on to support learning objectives.

• Promote harmony among the children attempting to minimize conflict, with gentle but firm guidelines and positive guidance.

• Exhibit good listening skills especially when conflict or discipline issues arise and problem solve professionally.

• Report any accidents or injuries immediately and document using incident report forms.

• Maintain Confidentiality.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Age Requirement: 18 years old

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

• Experience working with children preferred but not necessary.

Skill Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

• Team work skills

• Ability to take on new roles and jump in and help in varied ways

• Exhibit positive, warm social skills  interacting with children, parents, guardians, and other program staff
